Most everyone has experienced the angst and fear of the ever present “18-wheeler” tractor-trailer semi-trucks that seem to be on any given road at any possible time. Do these vehicles and their owners/operators really have different rights to the road than the rest of us? The quick answer, of course, is a resounding no. Actually, these owners/operators have to comply with specific regulations to be properly and legally on the roadway. For example, there are driver time limitations, weight load restrictions, secured load/load designation identification, dedicated travel lanes and, maximum speed limits. An experienced attorney should be able to identify not only whether a particular truck was driven or operated negligently but whether there are additional reasons why the truck was involved in a collision.
